Friends of the Homeless provides residential support to homeless men and women through shelters, transitional housing, and permanent supportive housing.

In 2006, Friends of the Homeless merged with Southeast, Inc.

As a result of this, Friends has been able to retain its role in the community and maintain the mission and vision established in 1983.

Friends of the Homeless is committed to leadership in providing innovative, quality programs, services, and housing that enable people in central Ohio to move out of homelessness.

Through collaboration, advocacy, education and their work, Friends aims to further the beliefs that:

Homelessness should be temporary;

People being served have dignity and worth; and

Decent, safe, affordable housing should be available to everyone.

Their Programs

Men's Emergency Shelter

This essential program provides shelter to 130 men, 24-hours-a-day, 365 days a year.

The Mens Emergency Shelter provides basic life-sustaining services while residents work to rebuild their lives.

New Horizons Transitional Housing

New Horizons Transitional Housing offers housing to chronically homeless and seriously mentally ill individuals who have moved beyond the need for immediate emergency shelter.

This program also offers supportive case management and stability while residents learn basic living skills and secure a more permanent housing solution.

Success in Housing

A Supportive Housing program to persons living with certain medical conditions that assists them in resolving housing crises quickly and linking them with community resources and supports to avoid homelessness in the future.

The program services referred clients that live in the Delaware, Fairfield, Franklin, Licking, Madison, Morrow, Pickaway and Union Counties.

Bridges to Success

The Bridges to Success Program helps referred clients who are returning to the community from psychiatric hospitalization or crisis unit placement avoid homelessness, find ongoing treatment, housing, and support services, and increase stability in the community.

I am in desperate need of some direction. I've called the homeless hotline through out the winter just to be put on a list toget in. I have since lost my children temporarily because I didn't have an address for them. I need pointed in the direction of someway to help with the cost of moving in somewhere and getting utilities taken care of, I start work tomorrow. I have been lucky enough to find a couch to sleep on most nights so I haven't necessarily needed the emergency shelter, but I need help getting to fixing the permanent part of housing and stability please.
