Is this shelter safe? (Do not enter private information; it may be published.)
Yes it is very safe. I stayed there 14 yrs ago when I left my abusive husband. They took me and my 2 young daughters in. It’s completely secluded. They keep it to where no one especially anyone that you are afraid of might find you. Throughout all these years I’ve never forgotten the kindness they showed me and the sence of hope during a time when I was so hopeless.

Yes, your children are allowed to come stay with you. They do their best to keep children and their mothers together in their own room.

Experiences for each individual is different I guess, but my experience with Hope Place was there was no hope there. The whole experience was bad at best. As an abuse victim I lived in terror and I did not feel safe there. I did not mind that the place was not clean and food/meals were scarce if you didn't have foodstamps or money. What I minded most was night time workers(2) would sleep all night instead of watching the cameras or door in case of intruders. one of the workers would get a pillow and blanket and sleep on the couch in another room away from her desk, rattling the walls with her snores. I left there unhappy, alone and without hope from Hope Place.

This comment has opened a deep scar called 'Hope Place'. This place proved to be one of the worst life decisions I have ever made. I was in so much worse shape when I left there than when I got there. That place is only as good as their weakest link and there were several weak links. I personally got no constructive/productive help whatsoever. And, I was treated like a second class citizen by 2 of the staff, to the point others there noticed. I lost all the progress I had made in my case prior to going there. My advice to anyone planning to go in a place like this, before going contact legal aide and meet with them if you can. Tell them your plans, have them be a legal witness and contact for you. If you can't do this and find yourself in a shelter, call legal aide and tell them your situation and have them be a legal witness/contact for you. Somebody needs to know where you are at in case something happens, you may need a credible witness to your whereabouts. Also, you are less likely to be treated unfairly if you have an attorney. From my experience don't file a formal complaint unless you do have an attorney. They kicked me out so fast my head is still spins after making a legitimate complaint. Just be really careful and know your rights.

I stayed at Hope place in 2007 and I have never forgotten about this place thinking of it often. Would it be possible for me to come and speak with someone about volunteering there to help in whatever way I could. ? Because of Hope place I am considering going into family law and drug addiction counseling.

My wife recently passed away and I’m looking to donate all of her clothing (casual, dress, undergarments, shoes, etc.) as well as makeup, toiletries. How and where to bring these?
