I tried to stay here and when I said I didn't have an emergency contact number at intake, they said I can't stay. It was in the teens outside with snow on the ground, so I gave them a working number and called it an emergency contact number -- but they were suspicious of this and said they're going to call this number and if it's not a good number, then I can't stay. It was a good number and I stayed but I was disrespected and yelled at unfairly by staff the next day (not for doing anything wrong) -- and I left on my own and I'll never return. This isn't the first time I've stayed here and every time I've stayed, I've seen this type of thing -- unfair and unreasonable rules and staff who will disrespect unfairly when they want to. Management is out-of-touch with the homeless, don't care if someone goes outside and dies and this is obvious -- and this is a Christian-based shelter. I believe there are too many people in social service management who have become out-of-touch, indifferent and even annoyed with the homeless who should move on and find other work but they do not -- and I think this is the case with management here. The public thinks they're wonderful but they haven't stayed here as a resident. If they did, they would think otherwise.
