VOICES Domestic Violence Program provides a 24 hour crisis line: (815) 235-1641Advocacy and support to all domestic violence victims in Stephenson County. VOICES DV's Community Resource Specialist assists survivors with community resources available to empower them to live independently in a violent-free environment. Survivors of domestic violence who are ready to break the cycle of violence in their lives and who qualify for VOICES DV's. Transitional Housing program can live in Transitional Housing for up to one year; during which time, they will attend weekly individual domestic violence counseling and meet weekly with VOICES DV's Community Resource Specialist complete a life skills educational program, which includes budgeting, housekeeping, and economic assistance to promote independent living. VOICES DV uses REAP (Realizing Your Economic Action Plan) - an economic education curriculum for women experiencing intimate partner violence. VOICES DV's Community Resource Specialist also works with those survivors who do not qualify for or do not need Transitional Housing, but who are interested in life skills education. In addition, VOICES DV's Community Resource Specialist is very knowledgeable about local, state, and national resources available to survivors of domestic violence and is available to help survivors access these resources. All domestic violence services are offered free of charge in a confidential setting.
